Fedeli expresses more concerns over Lake Nipissing walleye issue

The Ministry of Natural Resources is allowing the daily catch limit for walleye to stay at two in Lake Nipissing.  But it’s increased the size of the fish anglers are allowed to keep to 18 inches, up from nearly 16.  The goal is not to stress the lake population any further.  However, riding MPP Vic Fedeli says a more effective way to improve the lake population is to restock the lake.  He says stakeholders are prepared to do this but the MNR won’t let them and in the process is jeopardizing their livelihoods.  Fedeli also says the MNR is ignoring the damage cormorants do the fish.  He says each year the birds remove 100,000 kilograms of fish yet the ministry doesn’t address this.
