The Columbia Forest Products Facility in Rutherglen could reopen in the future.
In a press release, MP Jay Aspin says he is trying to get a team together to look into reopening the plant. He says at its peak, the mill employed more than 300 people and could be a big economic booster to the Mattawa region, even if only 10-15 per cent of it was reopened.
Aspin attended a meeting at the plant this week with MPP Vic Fedeli to check out the facilities. He says they are in very good condition.
