The area in front of the North Bay museum and park land, which include the carousel and mini rail, are being added to the no smoking by-law. Smoking was already prohibited in these areas, but the city is now formalizing the no smoking rule.
People can still smoke at the Civic Square adjacent to the museum because this area is not part of the museum. They can also light up on the sidewalk along Oak.
The local heritage committee has been lobbying council for a few years to include the smoking ban in its by-law.
