It’s Armed Forces Day!

Canadian Armed Forces Day is being celebrated in the Gateway City. A celebration will take place at the waterfront today beginning at 11, and is completely free to the public. It has just been announced that an F-18 jet will be flying over the city right at 11.

The Royal Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds will also be doing an air demonstration. Snowbirds Public Affairs Officer Lieutenant Patricia Brunelle says their excited to be back in North Bay, and that it is their first show in Canada this season. Over 150 military personnel will also be marching from City Hall to the Kiwanis Bandshell.

Because of today’s events, police are asking the public to be extra patient because there will be road closures around the city. Memorial Drive will be closed at the north end at Main and at the south end at Queen at 8 this morning. It will be reopened at about 4 PM today.  Sherbrooke will also be closed between First Avenue East and McIntyre East.
