Eight long-term mental health patients being moved into permanent community home…

Nipissing Mental Health Housing and Support Services will be taking on eight new long-term mental health patients from the North Bay Regional Health Centre come this July. They are being moved into a permanent community home.

Around 20 nursing staff will be hired for their around the clock care. The patients have expressed their desire to move back into the community, and the costs are far less to care for someone out of the hospital. It will cost around 350-dollars a day to care for the eight patients in the community compared to 1-thousand at the health centre.
