Over $9,000,000 in funding has been announced to improve internet connections in the remote areas of Nipissing-Timiskaming, and Parry Sound.

Over 21-hundred households will benefit from the changes. The federal funding was announced by MP Jay Aspin on Friday, who says it will benefit businesses and further support economic growth in the region.

NorthernTel will receive $548, 160 to improve broadband in the Temagami area. Xplornet will receive $5,279,082 and $3,208,879 for the Nipissing-Timiskaming and Parry Sound areas. The money is being provided by the federal government’s “Connecting Canadians” program.
