Police ask public to be “bear wise”…

There have been six bear sightings in the North Bay area over the last month.

Police are now asking the public to be more bear wise.  They remind people to only call 911 if a bear tries to enter a home, wanders into the public, kills livestock or pets, or is stalking someone.

They suggest limiting food sources such as bird feeders, cleaning barbecue grills, and taking out the garbage the night before pickup to keep bears away. Police also suggest travelling in groups, keeping dogs on a leash and making your presence known in bear country.
