It is going to be an action packed Canada Day in the Gateway City. At noon there is a singing of the national anthem, and cake cutting ceremony down at the waterfront. There will be performances all day long at the Kiwanis band shell, with supervised activities for kids at the Canada Day Kid Zone. Things will wrap up at 10 PM with a fireworks show at the waterfront.
If you are planning on attending city planned festivities tomorrow, drinking alcohol is prohibited at all public events except the the Moose FM Rocks the Boat Fireworks Cruise aboard the Chief Commanda. Memorial Drive will also be closed between 8 PM and 11 PM for a public fireworks display.
Meanwhile… North Bay Police have some reminders for people planning to use fireworks on Canada Day. Make sure to choose a wide, clear site away from obstacles, do not use fireworks if it’s windy, and always have water nearby. People are also prohibited from lighting fireworks at any public place. Finally, people under 18 must be supervised by an adult.
