The North Bay Fire Department wants to hire a Training Officer and a Fire Prevention Officer.
The recommendation from Fire Chief Grant Love is to reallocate a portion of the department’s existing funding to make these hires. Mayor Al McDonald says the goal is to offset the minimum staffing levels at department by having that additional support in place.
There are varying views on city council about whether the hires are necessary. The discussion has been referred back to the Community Services Committee.
