Building permit numbers in North Bay continue to outpace last year.
The city is at a construction value of 36-million dollars, compared to 21 million last year at this time. That’s a 67-per cent increase.
Single family dwellings have also increased to 22 versus 14 last year at this time. Mayor Al McDonald says that the increase in encouraging, and that North Bay remains open for business.
Council has gotten rid of development charges for houses less than 1200 square feet and reduced those charges by 30% for homes between 1200 and 1500 square feet, to encourage more building in the city. Fees have also been frozen for homes over 1500 square feet.
