Over $120,000 in federal funding has been announced for recreational trails in the area.
Around $20,000 of the money will allow the Discovery Routes Trails Organization to develop a feasibility study on a 400 kilometre trail network that would connect Sudbury to Ottawa Valley. The Voyageur Cycling Route would position northeastern Ontario as a premier cycling destination.
The other $98,000 will go towards the North Bay Snowmobile Club and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs to build a new bridge over the North River. The funding announcement was made by MP Jay Aspin this morning. Aspin said in a statement that both investments will help boost tourism in the area.
