The operating budget for a 10-bed hospice in North Bay would be $1.6 million. One of two groups pursuing the facility is the North Bay and Area Community Hospice.
It`s spokesman Chris Winrow says the province will pay $900-thousand of the $1.6 million. Winrow says that means the group has to raise $700-thousand annually, something he says is tough but not impossible.
Winrow says it’s doable. But it won’t be easy to raise $700,000 each year.
North Bay has two hospice projects on the go and the Local Health Integration Network has to decide which one to choose.
