East Ferris has received an investment from the federal government to host an event marking 400 years of French presence in Ontario.
The 40-thousand dollar investment will allow the municipality to coordinate an event called “Astorville en Fêtes”. The project will include a walking tour of the village’s historical sites, and the development of digital archives and a commemorative book. It will take place September 25th to the 27th.
The announcement was made by Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Jay Aspin at Champlain Park on Sunday. Since May 2011, over $3-million in federal funding has been invested to support Francophone culture in Nipissing-Timiskaming.
