Dog-killing virus breaks out at humane society

A breakout of Parvo virus has forced the North Bay and District Humane Society to temporarily close the dog section at the facility.  An abandoned dog with Parvo brought to the local branch transmitted the virus to two other dogs.  Parvo is very contagious and is deadly to dogs.  It spreads through direct and indirect contact with dog feces.  Pet owners can minimize the virus risk by picking up after their dogs have done their business outside.
