More people are wearing their life jackets, according to the latest BAYSAR survey

It looks like more people are wearing their life jackets in the Nipissing area.

BAYSAR has released the results of their latest survey, and found that 24 per cent more people were wearing their Personal Floatation Devices when compared to last year. They also noted a 13 per cent increase when compared to their 2013 survey, which was taken during similar wave conditions.

Search and rescue float planes collected the data on August 1st, as they did a flyby of area waterways, including Lake Nipissing, Trout Lake, and Lake Talon. BAYSAR Search and Rescue team member Stan French called the results encouraging and says they plan to continue the campaign next year.
