Three North Bay men fined for spearing walleye in local fish sanctuary

Three North Bay men have pleaded guilty to spearing walleye in the Wasi Falls fish sanctuary during the closed season.

Bruce, Andrew, and Joshua Scobie have to pay at total of $10,200 in fines, and have been banned from angling, spear fishing, or gill netting in any fish sanctuaries of Lake Nipissing for two years. Fish sanctuaries protect walleye during the spawning period.

The men were caught in the act by conservation officers on May 5th. They had to return the walleye and their spears over to the Crown.
