King proposes measures to reduce projected transit deficit

North Bay could be looking at a transit deficit this year, but councillor Mark King says with some outside-the-box thinking, that can be avoided.  King wants council to consider smaller buses where ridership is low.

He says a smaller bus could have avoided angry residents coming to council a while back on a transit issue involving Labreche Drive when the City added the street to its bus route.  And at about $90,000 the smaller buses are a fraction of the cost the city now pays for its buses.

King says the city can also increase ridership by getting some high school students to use transit with the school board paying for their passes.
