Ontario non-teaching staff threatening strike action

Non-teaching staff at the Near North District School Board are threatening work-to-rule action as students prepare to head back to class.

Over 50-thousand staffers across Ontario, including education assistants, custodians, and early childhood educators have been without a contract for a year. CUPE and the province spent yesterday at the bargaining table and more dates have been set to meet.

Their first legal strike date is September 10th. The province has tentative deals with Catholic and high school teachers but is still negotiating with elementary and francophone teachers.
