The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has confirmed an individual has tested positive at a school in the Nipissing District.
The Health Unit says that it is working with the school board to ensure all close contacts are notified. The person is now self-isolating.
There is no evidence that shows that the individual exposed the school to the virus. An outbreak has not been declared.
“Our staff are working with the school to provide important public health direction,” said Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health. “The Health Unit will be contacting close contacts of the case to provide further direction on isolation requirements and testing”.
The Health Unit has not stated whether the person is a student or staff member, or which school it is.
This comes on a day where the Health Unit has reported two more cases in the region: one in a person 19 years or younger; the other a person between 40 and 59.
