Charges laid in domestic dispute

A 34-year-old North Bay man is facing numerous charges following a domestic disturbance on Tuesday. 

North Bay police were called to a home in the Pinewood area for reports of a disturbance. The investigation found that a woman had a verbal argument with the man, which resulted in her briefly leaving the home. 

When she returned, police say that the man and a friend had taken what is suspected to be purple fentanyl. When the woman asked the friend to leave, the man became upset and threw the woman to the ground, while damaging furniture in the home. 

Police arrived and arrested the man, charging him with:

  • One count of assault;
  • One count of Mischief Under $5000;
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance; and
  • One count of breach of Release Order.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident. The man’s name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

The man is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
