NBPS gets help from the province

Fighting online crimes just got a little easier for the North Bay Police Services (NBPS).

The province announced yesterday that the NBPS will be receiving nearly $100,000 in funding to upgrade technology and training to improve investigations of online crimes including child exploitation, harassment, intimate image and fraud.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says that the government remains committed to providing police with tools they need to detect and crack down on online crimes, and this funding will help support local projects that will make North Bay safer.

The government is reinvesting $2.5M in cash and proceeds seized from criminals to help fight human trafficking in communities across the Province. That funding builds on the $20 million Ontario invest each year dedicated to anti-human trafficking initiatives.
