Toxic blue green algae found in local lake

A bloom of toxic blue green algae has been found in McQuaby Lake in Nipissing.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit warns people on private water systems not to use the water for drinking, cooking, or bathing. Boiling the water or using an at home treatment system will not kill the toxins. People are asked to avoid swimming or eating the organs of fish caught in the water.
