Second Town Hall this week

City Council will be holding its second town hall this week.

This is the second such meeting under the city’s modified procedural bylaw, which was amended last year. The updated bylaw was intended to allow for more public discussion with city council.

The first town hall in September saw just two presentations. One was from Gemma Victor, who has since seen a councillor join her Equity and Inclusion Committee. The other was from a man named Marty, who was asking council to consider installing more skating pads this winter.

“They were all new people that I hadn’t heard from before,” said deputy mayor, Tanya Vrebosch following the first town hall. “It was nice to see a different variety of people.”

The second town hall comes as council begins discussing the 2021 budget. Last week saw two days of meetings to go over the proposed water and wastewater budgets.

Submissions to the town hall must be registered by emailing the City Clerk at [email protected]. A brief outline of your presentation must also be submitted by Wednesday (November 4) at noon.

The town hall will be streamed via Zoom at 6 pm on Thursday, November 5.
