North Bay OPP focuses on East Ferris and Powassan

After receiving numerous traffic complaints about speeding in East Ferris and Powassan, the OPP will be heightening the patrols in the area.

OPP says the goal is to increase awareness and ensure highway safety for everyone using the area roads.

“The North Bay OPP in collaboration with local Police Services Boards is continually assessing and identifying relevant crime and traffic trends with the common goal of implementing proactive measures to minimize further victimization within our communities,” said Staff Sergeant Bill McMullen, Detachment Commander of the North Bay OPP. “North Bay OPP remains committed to traffic safety by incorporating high police visibility, measurable outcomes, professional traffic stops and public education into their efforts to save lives on local roads, trails and waterways. Aggressive driving, including speeding, impaired driving, inattentive driving and lack of seat belt use, are ‘Big 4’ offences that are significant factors in fatalities on Ontario roads.”

The focused patrols in the area will go on throughout November.
