With over 1,500 people from over 600 families on this year’s “nice list”, the 73rd annual Santa Fund has a fundraising goal of $140,000.
Scott Clark, Chair of the Santa Fund is hopeful the community will continue to support the tradition which sees “one of the larger goals in the history of the fund”.
“For 73 years, the Fund has made sure that every family has food on the table and gifts under the tree at Christmas, and this year, we are asking the citizens of North Bay to really step up to support those in the community who are less fortunate,” said Clark.
The fundraiser, which normally provides food and toys to families in need, will look a little different this year. Instead of the Christmas hampers being packed at the Chippewa Barracks as they had in years past, Memorial Gardens will be this year’s site.
“This was a huge help for us as the Chippewa Barracks was not available because of the pandemic,” Clark noted.
Members of the Canadian Forces as well as community volunteers will take part in the packing of the hampers this year under strict supervision from the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.
To get on the “nice list” for the Santa Fund, you have to be within the North Bay city limits and provide:
- Name
- Address
- Contact information
- Rent receipt
- Utility bills
- Tax information to verify your children’s home address
