So far about 6,800 customers have signed up to read their water meter information directly from the City of North Bay website. Monday night at city council, staff walked municipal politicians through what a typical homeowner will see once on the site.
Some things to keep in mind is the meter doesn’t measure water use in real time. In fact there’s a two-day delay and on weekend it’s longer. The meter can also flag continuous water flow use indicating there’s some kind of leak or a running toilet in the home.
Also when looking at the bill estimator online, keep in mind the dollar figure already includes the monthly fixed rate. The site also highlights upcoming open houses at City Hall to explain the meters to the public.
