City staff have reached a new labour deal through the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 122-1.
The new five-year deal runs from January 1 of 2021 to December 31, 2024. A statement from the city says the deal was ratified by the union earlier this month before being approved by council late Tuesday night.
Members of the union will see a 1.6 percent wage increase next year followed by two years of a 0.6 percent increase. 2023 and 2024 will see increases of 1.5 percent and 1.75 percent, respectively.
“I would like to thank the bargaining team members who worked collectively to reach a fair agreement for both the employees and the residents of the City of North Bay,” said Mayor Al McDonald. “This five-year contract comes at a challenging time and will ensure that services will continue to be delivered to the community safely and efficiently without disruption.”
