North Bay councillors got to dispel a myth about snow plows clearing streets or sidewalks when there’s no snow. Public works chair Tanya Vrebosch says councillors regularly get this complaint from the public.
But staff say when you see a plow driving around when there’s no snow, very likely that’s someone being trained on the equipment. Staff add when the sidewalk unit is out and there’s no snow, most likely it’s sanding or salting sidewalks to mitigate a thaw-freeze up scenario.
The issue came up while council heard a report on the city’s winter operation plan.
