Changes coming to North Bay’s signalized intersections

Starting today, the City will be updating timing plans at several signalized intersections. They say the changes will ultimately enhance traffic movement and efficiency. The updates will be happening all week.

Some changes include time of day timing plans where left-turn movements will be removed on main arteries as well as changes to inbound and outbound coordination to accommodate morning and evening traffic flows.

The city says there will be some noticeable changes to existing traffic flows.

Gord Young, communications officer for the City of North Bay, says timing will be updated at all 54 signalized intersections in the city over the next three years.

“This year, the work will focus on 22 locations along main arteries such as Trout Lake Road, Lakeshore Drive, McKeown Avenue and Cassells Street,” he said.
Next year’s targetted location is the downtown core.

The work will be carried out by the City’s engineering department in conjunction with its traffic department.
