Veterans Affairs Canada asking residents to spread holiday cheer

Though many Canadians see Christmas as a time to spend with their loved ones,  some Canadians will be separated from their families this winter.

Veterans Affairs Canada is encouraging Canadians to send holiday cheer cards directly to Veterans in long-term care homes or near their community, via local Royal Canadian Legion branches.

Minister of Veterans Affairs, Lawrence MacAulay, says it’s a gift that lets them know we’re thinking of them during what will surely be a difficult holiday season.

According to the Veterans Affairs Canada website, handmade cards are encouraged to have their own artwork, drawings, or construction paper designs glued on.

The cards can also be sent out to Canadian Armed Forces members who are currently serving.
