Fire crews have responded to calls of a fire in a backyard shed at a home on Oakwood Ave.
Jake Wheeler, who lives across the street from the home, noticed smoke coming from the backyard Thursday afternoon.
“I thought I was seeing things but then the flames kept getting bigger,” Wheeler said at the scene.
Wheeler says he notified the homeowner and began shovelling snow onto the flames while the homeowner called the fire department.
“The flames were going up right to the rafters,” he recalled. “I was worried about the house catching fire and also the neighbour’s house.”
Wheeler says approximately a dozen firefighters showed up to the house within five minutes and put the flames out in roughly 20.
First responders confirm there were no injuries.
North Bay Fire and Emergency Services has not yet indicated what the cause of the fire is.
