There’s been another bear run-in at the Laurentian Escarpment Conservation Area.
Two cyclists were charged at by a mother bear while they were travelling through the north end of the conservation area on Friday. The bear came within four feet of them before stopping.
The North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority has closed the Laurentian Escarpment to the public for the time being. Signs are posted so that visitors are aware of the closure. The situation will be reassessed by the Conservation Authority today to see if the area can be safely reopened.
