Man drops nearly $16,000 worth of suspected drugs in front of police

A 25-year-old man from Quebec is facing a drug trafficking charge after officers say he dropped a baggy filled with suspected fentanyl.

North Bay police say while interacting with the man on January 6, on the corner of First Ave. and John St, he dropped the baggy of suspected drugs on the ground.

The bag contained over 26 grams of suspected Fentanyl, estimated to be valued at $15,720.00.

Police arrested the man and charged him with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The man has been released from custody following a bail hearing and will appear in court later in February.
