Canadore College joins Academics Without Borders

Canadore College is now a member of Academics without Borders’ (AWB) network of Canadian colleges and universities.

AWB works to build capacity in post-secondary institutions in the developing world by linking institutions together with a common commitment to global development.

“Building a better world and stronger economies for everyone through education and training is a high priority,” said Canadore College President and CEO George Burton. “Many of our international graduates already return to their home countries to do just that.”

Canadore’s membership in the Network will provide its faculty and staff with the opportunity to propose projects to AWB in partnership with post-secondary partners in the developing world. Faculty and staff will also have special access to serve as volunteers on projects through AWB’s existing relationships with institutions and countries around the world.

“It is a real pleasure to welcome Canadore to the AWB Network,” said Greg Moran, AWB’s Executive Director. “The knowledge and experience that Canadore’s faculty and staff can offer as volunteers is invaluable to the post-secondary institutions we collaborate within the developing world — it will make a real difference. In addition, the AWB Network links the campus to like-minded institutions across Canada and builds connections in other parts of the world that will enrich its programs and the student experience.”
