Four charged in HWY. 64 break and enter

Four people including one from North Bay are facing various charges after police say they both trespassed and attempted to break into a shed earlier this week.

OPP got a call Monday about a theft in Mattawan Township. The accused had removed both hubcaps and lug nuts from a vehicle. 

On Tuesday, around 5:30 am, OPP got another call about a break and enter to a shed in Phelps Township on HWY 63.

The accused were scared off by property owners.

OPP officers then patrolled the area and located the suspected vehicle. 

Police say they found hubcaps and lug nuts suspected to be from the theft the day before.

 

A 39-year-old from North Bay was charged with the following:

  • Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the CC; and
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.

A 36-year-old from Bonfield was charged with the following:

  • Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the CC;
  • Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the CC; and
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.

A 29-year-old from Bonfield was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (four counts) contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC;
  • Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code (CC); and
  • Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the CC.

A 48-year-old from Gravenhurst was charged with the following:

  • Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the CC; and
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.

All accused were released on an Undertaking and will attend North Bay court in February.
