Police say community has been respecting stay-at-home order

North Bay Police Service says that the community has been listening to the provincial stay-at-home order.

They say that overall, as we enter the end of the first week of the lockdown, compliance has been good.

John Schultz, NBPS Community Safety Coordinator, says they have continued to receive calls in regards to the pandemic, with some of them simply asking questions and about what is required.

“There is still an educational component to what the police are doing and people are reminded that the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit website is an excellent resource for the COVID-19 pandemic and Provincial Lockdown information,” Schultz said in a release.

Schultz did say they have issued warnings in two complaints that they have investigated, as well as laying one charge for ‘Failing to Comply’ ($880 ticket).

Inspector Warner, who oversees the Operations Section of the North Bay Police Service, says “We are in a health crisis. We continue to support our health care system with the same message. Stay at home, only leave for essential activities and limit person-to-person contact to your immediate household. If you choose to disregard the regulations put into effect to support our health care police options include enforcement.”
