North Bay trying to bring Syrian refugee family to city

North Bay is well on its way to helping a Syrian refugee family.  Communities need to raise $27,000 to bring in a family of four.

In just two week, North Bay has raised $18,600.  The multi-cultural centre will help the family settle in to the community once members arrive.

Don Curry, the centre’s executive director, says with the speed that the community has raised money so far, it might be able to sponsor two families.  Syria is battling a severe civil war with many fleeing the country and Mayor Al McDonald started the refugee drive.
