The Sands Motel and another nearby property could be coming down soon.
The City of North Bay has opened up requests for demolition of the old motel and another property at 358 McIntyre Street.
The motel was in the process of being renovated into condominiums in 2018 when plans were halted by the city.
The abandoned building has since been the scene of a fire in May of 2020.
The city will be taking bids to destroy the building until February 17. Site visits for bidders are scheduled for this week.
City hall is aiming for March 10 as a date to have a demolition agreement signed.
City council passed a motion late last year that gives a rebate to developers that demolish derelict buildings and redevelop the land.
The city now offers 25 percent of the rebate on the demolition, with 75 percent on the redevelopment. Prior to that, it was a 50/50 split between the demolition and reconstruction.
