Council wonders if politics behind hospital cutbacks

Some North Bay councillors are wondering if politics are behind the recent massive layoffs announced at the hospital last week.  Mark King asked if North Bay would take as many hits as it does if a Liberal was the MPP and not a Progressive Conservative.

And George Maroosis is wondering the same thing.  Maroosis says the hospital keeps getting hit with layoffs and bed closures.

He says it can’t be because were getting healthier and he wants a study from the Local Health Integration Network to prove this one way or another.   He says if the LHIN can prove that we’re getting healthier, then beds should close.

However he highly doubts that’s the case.    Mayor Al McDoanld says the city is working behind the scenes to determine why it’s being treated the way it is over the past few years.
