NBPS issue multiple ‘lockdown’ related charges over last week

Seven adults have received $880 tickets for illegal gatherings over the last week.

That’s according to the North Bay Police Service, who laid the charges in four separate cases.

Police say they have also issued four tickets in regards to not complying with the 14-day isolation once returning to Canada with each fine totalling over $1130.  Two tickets worth $340 each have also been issued for making a false or misleading statement to a quarantine, screening, or environmental health officers.

Despite the charges laid, as week three of the provincial lockdown ends, police say the majority of people have been compliant with the restrictions in the area.

“As our community heads into what is currently the last scheduled weekend of this provincial lockdown police advise they will continue to respond to calls regarding the current lockdown restrictions,” said Community Safety Coordinator, John Schultz. “This is the super bowl weekend and virtual gatherings are encouraged as indoor gatherings are still not permitted. “
