The provincial police watchdog is saying no charges are being laid in a North Bay man’s death back in May.
On May 10th of last year, the Special Investigations Unit says a 60-year-old man died in his home as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As North Bay Police Service officers responded to the man’s home to check on his welfare that morning and were possibly present around the house at the time the man shot himself, the SIU conducted the investigation.
The unit’s director, Joseph Martino, says the police operation that unfolded in and around the home was conducted professionally and with regard to health and safety and there is no basis for proceeding with criminal charges.
