A 29-year-old Scarborough man is facing a slew of charges after police found a gun and over $100 000 of drugs at the bus station.
On Monday afternoon, Police got a call of a person travelling from the GTA on a bus to Sudbury, via North Bay, with the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.
Police acted on the tip, and while the bus was stopped in North Bay, arrested the accused.
Police took a loaded firearm, cash, and approximately $106,800 of suspected fentanyl.
The man was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance, to wit: Fentanyl, for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs Substance Act (CDSA);
Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section117.01 (1) of the CC (three counts);
Possession of Loaded Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 95(a) of the CC;
Possession of a Prohibited Device (Prohibited Firearms magazine–over 10 rounds), contrary to section 91(2) of the CC;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, to wit: Canadian currency, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC;
Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to section 90 of the CC; and
Carry Firearm in a Careless Manner, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC.
The accused is being held in custody pending bail and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 10, 2021, in North Bay.
