Timiskaming small businesses get $600,000 investment

Small businesses in the Timiskaming District have received support from the federal government.

Over $600,000 has been invested into the region by FedNor. A virtual media conference took place on Thursday morning with Anthony Rota, Nipissing-Timiskaming MP and Terry Sheehan, parliamentary secretary to the minister of FedNor.

“The investments announced today are laying the foundation for local businesses to become more competitive and succeed in the global economy, and create well-paying jobs for residents throughout the region,” stated Rota.

“Today’s announcement will help spur economic diversification, increase business growth and attract investment here in the Timiskaming district and across Northern Ontario,” noted Sheehan.

Five strategic initiatives will be supported by the funding which will help businesses develop new products, adopt new technology and expand operations.

It will also help businesses deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, preparing them for the post-pandemic economy.
