Toxic blue green algae found in local lake

The Health Unit is warning about another toxic blue green algae bloom found in Lake Nipissing.

It was found off the beach access of Charland Drive in North Bay. The city gets its water from Trout Lake, so the algae does not affect residents on the municipal water system.

People should avoid swimming in the area, and eating the organs of fish caught in the surrounding water. For more information on blue green algae, visit www.myhealthunit.ca.
