Transit changes coming Saturday

Fixed transit routes servicing the south end of the city will soon be consistent during days, evenings and weekends.

Starting March 27th, North Bay Transit is returning to a single set of fixed routes for the West Ferris area after implementing modified routes during evenings and weekends as part of the dynamic dispatching pilot project in January.

The change will see the modified 8a West Ferris-Marshall and 8b West Ferris-Junction replaced with an hourly 2 Marshall Park (leaving at half past the hour) and 4 Junction (leaving on the hour). This change will result in evening and weekend routes that are consistent with those operated during weekdays.

Gord Young, the city’s communications officer, says they will continue to make adjustments as required to optimize service as transit continues with the dynamic dispatching pilot, which allows riders to download the myRide NBT app to book their trips.

The dynamic dispatching service operates throughout most of the City on evenings Monday through Friday between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., Saturday between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Sundays between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. It is aimed at reducing wait times, providing more direct trips and improving efficiency.

To date, 1,715 accounts have been created through the myRide NBT dynamic dispatching app and customer satisfaction scoring has been 4.7 out of five, based on the responses of the 675 riders using the app.
