There will be a new place for the city’s children to play.
Olmstead Beach in Armstrong Park will be getting a new playground set following a council vote Tuesday. A $113,684 contract was awarded to Park N Play Design Company to purchase and install new playground equipment.
According to the staff report, the previous playground structure on the site was closed in 2019 and removed the following summer due to safety concerns.
A new base was installed last summer in anticipation of new playground equipment. Accessible washrooms and pathways were also installed.
Coun. Chris Mayne says the improved playground will “increase its value as a family-friendly asset in our community.”
The funding for the equipment was made available in this year’s capital budget.
