Blue-green algae found in Lake Bernard

A blue-green algae bloom has been found in Lake Bernard in Sundridge.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is asking people to avoid swimming or participating in water sports in the lake. People should also be cautious about eating fish caught in the water, and should not allow pets or livestock to drink from the lake.

Toxins found in the algae can irritate the skin and cause flu like symptoms if ingested. Visit www.myhealthunit.ca if you want to learn more.
