Kev’s Kids radio marathon continues

Today is Rotary Club of North Bay Day in North Bay and Callander.

Flag raisings were held in both communities and proclamations were read by municipal officials.

This as Kev’s Kids radio marathon in support of Rotary4Kids began broadcasting Thursday morning at 5 am.

Mayor Al McDonald recognized Moose FM host Kevin Oschefski, who is broadcasting for 29 straight hours, to help raise funds for children and youth with special needs in our community.

“I don’t know how you stay awake Kevin, but that is an incredible feat.  Let’s not forget he’s sacrificing his family time to help families as well,” McDonald says.

Oschefski says it means a lot to see the radio marathon return after the onset of the pandemic last year forced them to postpone the event.

“I think when we look back on this fundraiser, this year will be the one we will really look back on with a specialness because it’s been an interesting year and to get back to rallying the community together is a great thing,” he says, pointing out the initial response was amazing.

The broadcast continues on 106.3 Moose FM until 10 am Friday.

Donations can be made online at rotary4kids.ca/ or kevskids.ca/.

Or by calling 705.499.3109 during the 29-hour radio-a-thon.

New this year, the club’s first-ever online auction

(http://www.rotary4kidsauction.ca/) which is running until 8 pm on June 14.
