The Nipissing-Timiskaming riding has elected Liberal candidate Anthony Rota as their new Member of Parliament.
Rota unseated Conservative candidate Jay Aspin with over 51% of votes last night. Rota received 25,281 votes and Aspin followed with 14,320. It was a big win for Rota, who lost to Aspin in the last federal election by only 18 votes.
Rota says his main goal as MP will be to make life better for all Canadians. Around 49,000 eligible voters cast their ballot in the Nipissing-Timiskaming riding.
