The Backpacks of Love initiative is nearly a quarter of the way to its goal.
The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay is putting together backpacks filled with donated essential items.
The goal is 200.
Their first drop-off day generated 45 backpacks.
A couple more donation days have been lined up to accept drop-offs.
New essential items can be dropped off the next two Saturdays (July 10th and July 24th) from 1 to 3 pm at the New Apostolic Church on Joseph Street.
New items needed include:
– silver emergency blankets
– reusable water bottles
– tarps
– mini first aid kits
– small flashlights with batteries
– package of masks
– lip balm
– rain ponchos
– deodorant
– sun hats/ball caps
– hairbrushes
– towelettes/wipes
– sunscreen (cream)
– toilet paper
– feminine hygiene products
– drawstring bags
– socks – light and heavy
– reusable bags (all sizes)
